League of Legends is popular worldwide, but that's nothing compared to it's popularity in South Korea, where it competes for the country's most played game. Some of the most skilled LoL players come from South Korea, and with millions logging on, you'd expect Riot Games Korea to dedicate a lot of time to maintaining servers, right?
That seems not to be the case, as South Korean Gamers have taken to the skies to complain to Riot Korea about the persistent server maintenance, in fact, one South Korean gamer recently posted a thread on Reddit about the horrible server management;
First i'm not good at english..I'm korean lol game user.Korean lol users are very upset because of riot korea's sever management. Korea's lol sever is almost daily flooded.Did you aready know this situation? riot korea exactly said "we expand our server so sever will not be flooded anymore"But sever is still almost daily flooding...if the sever flood when user is doing rank game.the user probably lose game and lose point...i don't want to see server flooding anymore....so please riot na help korean lol users to play game freely without server flooding....Even now sever is flooded so korean users can't play lol.....sigh,,Lately though, it's not just been South Korean servers which have horrible uptime. Look at this uptime chart, courtesy of Loldown.com, which was made by a South Korean Gamer not long ago to show to Riot Games the horrible management;
As you can see, Korea is among the worst, but EU West takes it to another whole level. 11/25 servers are experiencing intermittent management failures. Riot Games in NA needs to slap some sense into Riot Korea, or risk losing their fanbase to rivals such as Dota 2, which has a sizeable fanbase in South Korea.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don’t know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog, I will keep visiting this blog very often.
